Randburg residents enjoy the benefits of an “everything on your doorstep” lifestyle. The excellent infrastructure includes good schools, hospitals and extravagant shopping centres. The region’s attractions are characterised by a lively restaurant culture, open-air recreational areas and places of cultural and historic significance.
Some recreational areas include the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens (situated next to Emmarentia Dam) which host well-attended open air concerts, Melville Koppies Nature Reserve, Westdene Dam, the highly-respected Delta Park and Environmental Centre, and the recently opened Kelland Bird Sanctuary adjacent to the Randpark Golf Course. Sporting venues include Marks Park, Emmarentia, the Northcliff Country Club, Randburg Sports Centre and Randpark Golf course.
By tackling the ills that have plagued Randburg in the past, a three-year urban revival plan has been devised to attract business and investment back to the area. Approved by the City of Johannesburg, the project will be implemented by the Johannesburg Development Agency.
